April 15th, 2008 (CNBC): Intel: As Long As Numbers Add Up, Worst May Be Behind
"To quantify just how much optimism there is around these (INTC) shares, look no further than WhisperNumber.com, which reports a whisper of 28 cents, or 3 cents better than the Street. That's a healthy whisper and not your typical one or two pennies. Whisper also says that Intel has beaten in 16 quarters, but met or missed in 18 quarters, so bet accordingly. It's just that after the volatility of the last quarter, Intel investors may not be in a betting mood, choosing instead to hold back and wait for things to turnaround more strongly." Tech Check with Jim Goldman

April 2nd, 2008 (CNBC TV):
"Even though RIM beat expectations soundly, it didn't measure up to the whisper wafting through the Street, so that might be seen as a disappointment. How much? Well, the folks at whispernumber.com, who track such things, say that on average, in the past, with RIM falling short of the whisper, shares suffer an 11 percent decline over the next 30 trading days beginning with the open tomorrow." Tech Check with Jim Goldman

June, 2007 (AAII): The AAII releases their Best of the Net Top Web Sites for Estimates, Ratings, & Recommendations. WhisperNumber.com was chosen based on its unique and proprietary coverage of whisper numbers. The AAII stated that "whisper numbers" are "another estimate that investors should be aware of when quarterly earnings are released." The AAII went on to distinguish the importance and influence of the whisper number by stating "a company might meet or even exceed its consensus estimate, only to see its stock price plummet because it fails to meet the whisper numbers." May 8, 2007 (BusinessWeek): Cisco Systems (CSCO) and Disney (DIS) both finished higher ahead of their earnings reports after the market close. But Cisco shares were falling in after-hours trading after the company reported fiscal third quarter EPS of 30 cents a share, up from 22 cents a share a year ago. But that was below the "whisper number" of 36 cents from WhisperNumber.com that some traders hope for. Full article here.

The Whisper Game: How did beating the consensus earnings forecast become the least of your problems? CFO.com

October 18th, 2007 (CNNMONEY.com, Media Biz) 'Psst! Here’s what Google will REALLY report'
"People are chattering about Google. According to Thomson First Call, analysts are predicting that Google will report a profit of $3.78 a share. But if Google reported merely $3.78, it’s highly likely that investors will be disappointed. Whispernumber.com is reporting that the whisper number for Google is actually $3.82 a share. It’s worth paying attention to the whisper numbers for a clue about how the stock might react immediately after the results are announced this afternoon."

Whisper Down the Web: Sites Help You Play Rumors as Well as News
"The fact that WhisperNumber.com is probably the most widely cited online source for earnings-estimate rumors means the site's pronouncements take on some importance in their own right -- just as analyst upgrades and downgrades do."
